Hit Kit

Conducting a thorough damage investigation requires several steps including filling out damage forms, creating sketches of the scene, interviewing witnesses, and assessing damages. Photos of the scene will often determine who is liable for the damage, so it is imperative to utilize the best damage investigation tool to document the damage and help prove your case.

The HITKit provides posts that are legible from 360° and includes a rigid ruler with numbers that can be clearly read from a distance.

Before attempting to begin a damage investigation make sure the area is SAFE. Gas or hazardous liquids are contained, electric cables are not energized, and all equipment is turned off and is secured.

  1. Place DAMAGE post as close to the damaged facility as possible. Secure in place using spikes included in the kit.

  2. Place MARK post on the spray paint mark closest to the damaged facility. When only flags are used, place MARK post at the intersection of the line of flags and the damage.

  3. Place the 0 point of the ruler at the DAMAGE and measure the distance to the MARK post.
